1. Festa da Anona (Cherimoya Fruit Festival)
Date: February 1-2, 2025 – location: Faial, Santana.
This traditional event commemorates the cherimoya fruit, known locally as ‘Anona’. Visitors can enjoy entertainment, traditional cuisine and beverage specialties.

2. Festa dos Compadres
Date: February 20–23, 2025- location: Santana.
This event kicks off the Carnival season with parades featuring adorned floats, traditional costumes, musical entertainment and comedy sketches addressing social and political themes.

3. Children’s Carnival Parade
Date: February 28, 2025- location: Funchal
On the Friday morning before Carnival, around a thousand young revelers from various educational institutions walk along Avenida Arriaga’s principal promenade, dressed in Carnival costumes, in a dream and animation-filled environment.

4. Solidarity Carnival Parade
Date: February 28, 2025- location: Funchal.
The city center is once again adorned with another entertainment effort that stands out for its uniqueness and innovation. With contagious energy, hundreds of Funchal Community Development Association revelers parade down Avenida Arriaga to the Municipal Garden, where the event will be held.

5. Madeira Carnival Festivities
Date: February 26 – March 9, 2025- location: Funchal.
Madeira’s Carnival, one of Europe’s largest street parties, captures Rio’s chaotic flair!
The festivities begin on Saturday with an extravagant procession through Funchal, including the island’s greatest samba bands and troupes dancing through the streets dressed in stunning costumes.
The celebrations last all weekend and culminate on Shrove Tuesday with the Trapalhão procession, where locals dress up in unique costumes. The song is catchy… Put on your dance shoes and attend the party!
